About Locatus
Locatus reads your phone's GPS position and hands a short text to your messaging app: your coordinates, a Plus Code, and links that open in Google Maps, Apple Maps, Waze, Organic Maps, or HERE WeGo. You choose what goes in and who it goes to, and you press send. Locatus never sends anything itself.
It is for the moment the network is jammed. A packed street on a holiday night, a stadium letting out, a festival: data times out and location sharing spins, but a short text usually gets through. GPS needs no signal at all, and your friend opens the link in whatever map app they already have, offline if need be.
There is no account, no server, no ads, and no analytics. Nothing leaves your phone except the text you send, and your friend does not need Locatus, only a phone that can open a link or read a coordinate.

Common questions
Does my friend need Locatus?
No. The text carries plain coordinates and ordinary links. Any phone that can open a link, or search a coordinate in a map app, can use it, including offline map apps.
Does it work with no signal?
The position comes from GPS, which needs no cell service, so the fix and the message work in airplane mode. Sending the text needs whatever signal your messaging app can find, and a short text usually gets through a network that is too busy for data.
What does Locatus collect?
Nothing. There is no account and no server. Favourites and settings stay on the phone, and your position leaves it only inside a text you send yourself.
